Before you begin

Shwasly offers guided breathing for general wellbeing. It is not medical advice and does not replace your doctor. If you are pregnant or have a heart, blood-pressure or respiratory condition, consult a professional before practising. Always stop if you feel dizzy or unwell.

How to sit

Sit or lie down. One hand on the belly, one on the chest. Fill from the bottom up — belly, then ribs, then upper chest — and empty in reverse.

Keep in mind

This is the foundation of every other practice. Keep it smooth and unhurried.

Avoid if: None absolute for most people. The slow, deep breathing does mildly lower blood pressure and heart rate — if you have low blood pressure or a history of fainting, rise slowly afterward rather than standing up quickly.
